Minister Song Miryeong Visits 'Smart Livestock' Reducing Feed Costs and Odors, Pledges to Strengthen Support
On-site Visit to Smart Livestock Facility in Pyeongtaek City
On the 6th, Song Miryeong, Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, visited an intelligent pig farm located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and held a meeting with young livestock farmers to discuss ways to expand smart livestock farming.
The livestock farm visited by Minister Song, Rose Farm, optimizes feed supply based on data considering growth stages such as sows and piglets, reducing feed costs by about 19% compared to general farms. It is also a pig farm that has introduced a system that centrally exhausts air inside the barn and air washers to reduce odor.
At the meeting, he said, "Smart livestock farming is a powerful means to overcome structured problems in livestock sites, such as improving productivity and scientifically managing odors and livestock diseases, and it is the direction our livestock industry should take," adding, "We plan to strengthen the necessary support for the dissemination and expansion of smart livestock farming."

Minister Song stated, "To expand the dissemination of smart livestock farming, we will create performance models by livestock type and field, and continuously expand education and experience opportunities for adopting farms," adding, "We will seek various institutional improvement measures to achieve results in smart livestock farming and establish a customized support system for overseas expansion."
