Gumi Election Commission Reports Suspect for Providing Local Residents with Watches and Food Worth 1 Million Won
The Gumi City Election Commission reported suspect A to the Gimcheon branch of the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office on the 6th for providing goods worth approximately 1 million won (a watch) and food to preliminary candidate B over a two-month period from November to December last year in relation to the 22nd general election.
According to Article 115 (Restriction on Donation Acts by Third Parties) and Article 257 (Violation of Prohibition and Restriction on Donation Acts) Paragraph 1 of the Public Official Election Act, anyone who makes donations for a candidate (including those intending to become candidates) in an election shall be punished by imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to 10 million won.

The Gumi Election Commission stated, "As the election day for the 22nd National Assembly approaches, there is a likelihood that prospective candidates may commit violations using various opportunities, so we will strengthen prevention and crackdown activities."
