Previously, to create an art environment without cultural blind spots, the district invested 7.4 billion KRW over four years starting in 2019, establishing a total cultural promotion fund of over 8 billion KRW. The district plans to use the fund for direct projects such as supporting performances and exhibition attendance for culturally marginalized children, as well as for contest projects supporting activities of cultural artists (individuals and groups).
The total support scale for this contest project is 80 million KRW, with recruitment fields including ▲Youth (International) Cultural and Artistic Exchange ▲Support for Young Artists’ Cultural and Artistic Activities ▲Support for Senior Artists’ Cultural and Artistic Activities ▲Support for Disabled Persons’ Cultural and Artistic Activities ▲Senior Citizens’ Cultural and Artistic Education, totaling five categories.
The “Youth” category supports direct expenses such as airfare when participating in international cultural and artistic exchange projects held overseas, with a total support scale of 22 million KRW. The “Young, Disabled, and Senior” categories support expenses for region-based creative activities to strengthen cultural and artistic capabilities, aiming to enhance emotional satisfaction through cultural solidarity and provide opportunities for social participation, with a total support scale of 47 million KRW. The “Senior Education” category supports the operation of visiting cultural and artistic lectures based on talent donation for senior citizens, providing a total of 10 million KRW.
Applicants must be individuals or groups who have had a residence in Yangcheon-gu for more than one year as of the announcement date (February 1) and have at least one year (one case) of experience and achievements in the relevant cultural and artistic field. Only one project per support category can be applied for. Those wishing to apply can download the form from the district office website’s public notice board, fill it out, and submit it in person to the Culture and Sports Division of the district office by the 16th of this month. Afterward, the final results will be individually notified in March following deliberation by the Yangcheon-gu Cultural Promotion Fund Operation Committee.
In particular, since socially disadvantaged groups will be given priority during the evaluation, this contest project is expected to serve as a stepping stone to support prospective artists who have talent and passion but have faced limitations due to financial constraints.
