Gwangju Seo-gu Implements 35 Comprehensive Measures Including Civil Service Office Operation

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 6th that it will implement a comprehensive plan to stabilize residents' lives so that local residents and visitors returning to their hometowns can have a safe and comfortable Lunar New Year holiday.

Until the 12th, Seo-gu will carry out 35 measures in various categories directly related to residents' lives, including ▲prevention of various infectious diseases and operation of emergency medical systems ▲inspection for disasters (heavy snow, cold waves) ▲safety management of seasonal food products ▲price control and fuel supply ▲clean environment creation ▲guidance and crackdown on illegal parking ▲support for marginalized neighbors ▲operation of the 365 Civil Service Office, and more. During the four-day holiday period, 128 personnel will be on emergency duty and a comprehensive situation room will be operated.

During the holiday period, Seo-gu plans to ensure that residents can receive prompt and comfortable assistance in areas such as cleaning, disaster and accident response, medical care, and civil affairs through situation response teams in each field.

In particular, before and after the holiday, the district will focus on identifying and supporting at-risk households in welfare blind spots and provide support for heating costs at senior centers and meals for low-income children.

Safety inspections will also be conducted at elderly welfare facilities and welfare centers to protect seniors vulnerable to safety risks.

Additionally, major urban areas and regions vulnerable to cleaning will undergo thorough cleaning, and special cleaning measures such as special duty for sanitation workers and expanded operation routes for street cleaning vehicles will be implemented during the holiday to ensure that residents and visitors can spend the holiday in clean streets.

For residents who urgently need civil documents during the holiday, 18 unmanned civil document issuance machines and the 365 Civil Service Office located on the first floor of Lotte Mart Max in the Sangmu district will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., issuing documents such as resident registration certificates, seal certificates, and family relationship certificates.

Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “We will actively implement comprehensive measures prioritizing residents' life stabilization to realize a warm and caring government together with Seo-gu,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure that both residents and visitors can have a worry-free and happy Lunar New Year holiday.”

Meanwhile, since the 17th of last month, Seo-gu has been conducting safety inspections of multi-use facilities in preparation for the Lunar New Year and carrying out large-scale cleaning by district to ensure a safe and pleasant holiday through various preemptive measures.
