Lee Jun-seok: Lee Won-wook and Jo Eung-cheon’s Proposal for 'Unified Public Relations Committee' is 'Rational'... No Major Issues Expected
"Expressing Reform Party's Position and Expecting Swift Discussions"
Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, evaluated on the 6th that the proposal by lawmakers Lee Won-wook and Cho Eung-cheon to form a 'Unified Nomination Management Committee' for building a third-force big tent "has rationality."
On the same day, shortly after former Sejong Special Self-Governing City Council Chairman Lee Tae-hwan announced his joining of the party, Lee met with reporters and said, "The nomination direction we have been preparing at the Reform New Party level is very similar, so even if it proceeds in the form of a unified nomination committee among various forces, there should be no major problems."
He added, "Rather, since we are a force newly engaging in politics, I think the possibility and preparation to realize this (unified nomination committee) are easier than ever," and said, "(Lawmakers Lee Won-wook and Cho Eung-cheon) proposed removing barriers between forces and giving nomination rights to party members and citizens, which had been difficult to realize concretely until now."
Earlier, lawmakers Lee Won-wook and Cho Eung-cheon, who refused to join New Future and separated again under 'Principle and Common Sense,' proposed on the same day the formation of a unified nomination management committee to the Reform New Party, New Future, and New Choice on the premise of grand unification. The 'five core values' for the big tent integration were presented as equality, inclusion, recognition, change, and future, and the unified nomination committee was to be composed by recommending 2 members from the Reform New Party, 2 from New Future, 1 from New Choice, and 1 from Principle and Common Sense, respectively.

Regarding the Democratic Party of Korea's stance on the semi-proportional representation system in this general election, Lee said, "Various strategic considerations are being discussed within the Reform New Party," and added, "For example, strategic choices such as regional non-candidacy, trends in approval ratings, and discussions about proportional representation list placements to maximize the number of elected candidates are also being considered."
He continued, "There is considerable rationality in the proposal suggested by lawmakers Cho Eung-cheon and Lee Won-wook," and said, "If they are forces advocating political reform, I think there is no strong reason to reject or oppose it." Lee added, "We will announce our position at a not-too-late time today and will likely be able to have discussions based on the proposal suggested by lawmakers Cho Eung-cheon and Lee Won-wook."
