View original imageYongsan-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Hee-young) is making every effort to implement the '2024 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Plan' from the 7th to the 13th to ensure that residents can spend a safe and comfortable Lunar New Year holiday.
The comprehensive plan consists of 30 detailed measures across six major areas: ▲resident safety measures ▲support for marginalized neighbors ▲traffic flow measures ▲resolution of daily inconveniences ▲price stabilization measures ▲and establishment of public service discipline, which will be thoroughly carried out from before the start of the holiday until its end.
To this end, the district office will set up a comprehensive situation room at the district office duty room during the holiday period and operate six function-specific situation rooms for snow removal, cleaning, traffic, medical services, and more. A total of 171 personnel will be on duty in each situation room to respond to emergencies and resolve residents' inconveniences.
First, to ensure a safe Lunar New Year, the district began special inspections on disaster-vulnerable facilities and multi-use facilities from the 19th of last month to prevent safety accidents. Safety inspections were conducted on local ▲disaster-risk facilities ▲road facilities ▲various construction sites, and places where large crowds may gather such as ▲traditional markets ▲parks ▲public sports facilities ▲movie theaters ▲performance halls were intensively inspected for facility abnormalities and fire hazards through pre-inspections.
In preparation for heavy snowfall, the snow removal situation room will operate 24 hours a day, and a cold wave response headquarters will be activated when a cold wave advisory is issued. Starting this year, the cold wave response headquarters will include local community centers and construction site management departments to ensure thorough protection of vulnerable groups and outdoor workers.
Additionally, the district plans to carefully ensure that vulnerable groups are not neglected and can spend a warm Lunar New Year. During the holiday period, side dishes, lunch boxes, or meals will be provided to prevent meal shortages for ▲children requiring care ▲elderly living alone ▲residents of small rooms ▲homeless people, and holiday consolation money will be given to ▲low-income groups ▲national veterans ▲residents of welfare facilities.
For vulnerable groups such as elderly people needing care, thorough welfare checks will be conducted before and after the Lunar New Year holiday. Dedicated social workers and life support staff will regularly check on them in three stages: before the holiday, during the holiday, and immediately after, strengthening the care system.
A district official said, "Information on hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies operating during the holiday will be posted on the district website and SNS, so please refer to it," and added, "Garbage collection will not be available for four days from the 8th to the 11th, the day before the holiday, so please put out your garbage in front of your house starting at 6 p.m. on the last day of the holiday, the 12th."
Furthermore, to ease the burden on residents struggling with soaring prices, the district will continuously monitor the supply status and price trends of major Lunar New Year seasonal products and daily necessities. Before the holiday, 4 billion KRW worth of Yongsan Love Gift Certificates were sold at a 5% special discount to increase sales for small business owners and revitalize the local economy, receiving great support from local residents.
