Hwaseong-si "Intensive Inspection of Excessive Packaging for Seol Holiday Gifts"
Fines Up to 3 Million Won Imposed on Violating Businesses
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 5th that it will conduct a focused inspection on oversized packaging of gift sets at large supermarkets within the city until the 16th in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.
During this inspection, the city will check compliance with packaging standards such as packaging materials, packaging space ratio, and number of packaging layers, as well as proper labeling of mandatory separation and disposal marks. The main items to be inspected include food and beverage products, cosmetics, detergents, miscellaneous goods such as toys, wallets, and belts, quasi-drugs, clothing, and electronic products.
If oversized packaging is suspected based on the inspection results, the city will notify manufacturers and importers with an inspection order, and if violations are confirmed, a fine of up to 3 million KRW will be imposed.
