Gyeonggi-do Provides 500 Million KRW to Successor Fishermen and 200 Million KRW to Fisheries Business Operators
Gyeonggi Province is promoting the ‘Fisheries Business Manager Development Project’ for successors of fishermen and others.
The Gyeonggi Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute announced on the 5th that it is accepting applications for the ‘2024 Fisheries Business Manager Development Project,’ which provides up to 500 million KRW to successors of fishermen and up to 200 million KRW to outstanding business managers, until the 28th of this month.
The Fisheries Business Manager Development Project aims to foster specialized fisheries personnel by selecting successors of fishermen and outstanding business managers and providing funds necessary for establishing business foundations and improving management in the form of loans.
The loan limit for successors of fishermen is up to 500 million KRW. The annual interest rate is 1.5%, or a variable interest rate can be applied if the individual prefers. The loan limit for outstanding business managers is 200 million KRW with an annual interest rate of 1%.
Eligibility for application for successors of fishermen includes those aged 18 or older but under 50, who have no experience in fisheries management or have been engaged in fisheries for less than 10 years.
Outstanding business managers are those who have obtained a fishing license (permit or report), have been selected as successors of fishermen, and have continuously managed their business in the relevant field for more than 5 years, or those selected as new fisheries knowledge experts, aged 60 or younger.
Eligible fields for application include ▲fishing vessel fisheries ▲aquaculture ▲seafood processing and distribution ▲salt manufacturing, among others.
This year, Gyeonggi Province will select and support 8 people, including 7 successors of fishermen and 1 outstanding business manager.
Fishermen who wish to apply should bring the application form, plan, and other necessary documents along with identification to the Gyeonggi Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute (71 Gaegonneo-gil, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si) for in-person submission.
