Ulleung-gun Holds Resident Briefing on Expanding Eco-Friendly Transportation for Tourism Infrastructure
Feasibility Study and Basic Service Plan
The 'Feasibility Study and Basic Service Plan Resident Briefing' for expanding the tourism infrastructure (eco-friendly transportation) in Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, was held on January 26 at the Ulleung Hanmaeum Hall.
At this resident briefing, the basic cable car plan to expand eco-friendly transportation infrastructure to accommodate one million tourists after the opening of Ulleung Airport was explained to local residents, along with the feasibility of the routes under review. Through Q&A sessions, a consensus was formed among the local community.
The installation of the cable car is expected to revitalize the local economy and improve accessibility to the rugged tourist sites of Ulleungdo, forecasting the changes that will occur once the plan is implemented.
Specifically, the planned cable car routes were reviewed to connect tourist sites with poor accessibility and frequently visited locations, considering scenic aspects to enjoy during the cable car ride and selecting optimal routes that preserve the pristine natural environment. As a method to secure project funding, attractive routes were examined to encourage private investors to invest.

Therefore, the opinions and cooperation of residents are crucial. If implemented, the cable car will offer a new experience for local residents as well, allowing them to view the mysterious island of Ulleungdo from the sky, something they have never experienced before.”
