Gyeonggi-do Provides Up to 4 Million Won for Hanok Renovation Support
Gyeonggi Province will provide repair costs of up to 4 million KRW per household to preserve Hanok.
Gyeonggi Province announced that it will recruit applicants for the ‘Hanok Architecture Small-scale Emergency Repair Support Project,’ which supports small-scale repair and maintenance costs of up to 4 million KRW per household to revitalize traditional buildings such as Hanok, from February 29 to March 3.
The support targets Hanok in the province that require small-scale emergency repairs such as roof tile replacement, structural reinforcement, plaster repair, pest control and disaster prevention, window and door repairs, and fence and gate repairs.
The support amount is up to 4 million KRW per household within half of the total construction cost.
Hanok owners who wish to apply for the project can download the application forms from the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website and submit them along with the required documents.
Gyeonggi Province will decide on the support eligibility through the review of the Gyeonggi Architectural Committee and notify the selected applicants in April.
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province is also conducting a ‘Visiting Technical and Administrative Support’ project to assist with the lack of specialized skills and complicated administrative procedures related to Hanok repairs.
Hanok experts visit the site directly to provide technical support such as reviewing repair methods, scope, and cost estimates.

Lee Eun-seon, Director of the Architectural Design Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Since 2021, through the small-scale Hanok repair support project, we have been supporting the preservation of traditional Hanok and providing a comfortable and safe living environment, and the satisfaction of participating Hanok owners has been very high.
