Gyeonggi Tourism Organization Signs MOU with Asia's Largest Travel Agency 'Trip.com' to Boost Tourism

View original imageGyeonggi Province is teaming up with Trip.com, Asia's largest travel agency, to attract Chinese tourists.
On the 24th, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced on the 25th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Trip.com at the Trip.com Group headquarters in Shanghai, China, to establish mutual cooperation in the tourism sector.
According to the agreement, the two organizations will closely collaborate in key areas including ▲joint marketing to attract Chinese tourists during peak travel seasons ▲development and promotion of new high-value tourism products utilizing Gyeonggi Province's diverse tourism resources ▲promotion of Korea-China tourism exchange cooperation aligned with the recovery of international tourism ▲and implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices for sustainable tourism industry development in both countries.
In particular, ahead of the Chinese New Year Golden Week (February 10?17), the largest holiday in China, various promotional marketing activities will be conducted using Trip.com's online and offline media channels.
Leveraging this agreement, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization has set a target to attract 4 million overseas tourists this year. From January to November last year, 1.4 million foreign visitors came to Gyeonggi Province. Established in 1999 and listed on NASDAQ in 2003, Trip.com Group is Asia's largest online travel platform company with over 400 million customers.
It is also one of the world's top three online travel agencies (OTA). Operating more than 6,500 offline stores in China, Trip.com held a dominant 54.7% market share of the domestic online travel platform market in China as of 2023.
