According to Seo-gu on the 24th, this council consists of a total of seven organizations: the Western Police Station, the Gwangju-Jeonnam Branch of the Drug Eradication Movement Headquarters, Seo-gu Integrated Addiction Management Support Center, Seo-gu Out-of-School Youth Support Center, Seo-gu Regional Children's Center Federation, Seo-gu Medical Association, and Seo-gu Pharmaceutical Association.
Seo-gu held a working-level council collaboration meeting the day before to discuss the division of roles for each organization and the scope of support for drug prevention response projects.
Together with the council, proactive response projects will be promoted to reduce damage from illegal drugs and foster correct awareness and vigilance, including drug abuse prevention education for youth, drug eradication campaigns targeting PC rooms and entertainment districts, and counseling linkage for drug addiction damage.
Additionally, to prevent illegal handling of medical drugs and excessive prescriptions for profit purposes at medical institutions and pharmacies, Seo-gu plans to continuously communicate with the Seo-gu Medical Association and Seo-gu Pharmaceutical Association.
Next month, Seo-gu will appoint five honorary drug prevention officers who will carry out various activities such as promotional campaigns and education for drug prevention over two years.
Park Yeonju, Director of the Health Administration Division, said, "Now is the time for public health medical institutions to take the lead in blocking and preventing drug problems in advance," adding, "We will strive to create an effect where the entire Gwangju becomes safe from drugs through Seo-gu's efforts."
