Gyeonggi-do Inspects 64 Air Emission Facilities in Sihwa Industrial Complex
Gyeonggi Province will measure fine dust in the Siwha National Industrial Complex using advanced monitoring equipment such as scanning LiDAR and conduct joint inspections targeting 64 high-concentration business sites.
Scanning LiDAR is an advanced device that emits laser beams into the atmosphere to measure fine dust within a 5km radius in under 30 minutes.
In September last year, Gyeonggi Province installed scanning LiDAR in the Siwha National Industrial Complex in Siheung City to monitor air pollution levels 24 hours a day. Analyzing the measurement results from December last year, they selected points with high average monthly air pollution concentrations.
From the 24th to the 25th, Gyeonggi Province will conduct joint inspections with the Seoul Metropolitan Air Quality Management Office targeting 64 high-concentration business sites over two days.
The main inspection items include ▲ installation and operation of unauthorized (unreported) facilities ▲ neglect of malfunctioning prevention facilities ▲ abnormal operation activities.
Additionally, using the Seoul Metropolitan Air Quality Management Office’s mobile air pollution measurement vehicle, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in vulnerable areas will be measured and analyzed. Drones will also be used to check for facility damage outside business sites, and if a site is suspected of poor management, air pollutant samples will be collected immediately to verify any violations.
