Gangseo-gu, 'Seol Holiday Direct Market' on the 25th-26th of this month
12 Sister Sisterhood Local Governments, 31 Participating Companies
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) will operate the "2024 Lunar New Year Sister City Direct Market" for two days starting from the 25th. The direct market, held annually before the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, is very popular among residents as it sells high-quality agricultural and specialty products at reasonable prices without any middle distribution process.
The market will be held on the 25th and 26th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Magoknaru Station Entrance Plaza (Exit 3 of Magoknaru Station) inside the Seoul Botanical Garden. This year, 12 local governments and 31 companies, including ▲ Imsil-gun ▲ Sangju-si ▲ Taean-gun ▲ Gangneung-si ▲ Yeosu-si ▲ Haman-gun ▲ Suncheon-si ▲ Jeongeup-si ▲ Goesan-gun ▲ Wanju-gun ▲ Pyeongchang-gun ▲ Cheongyang-gun, will participate to showcase a variety of agricultural and specialty products.
Visitors can purchase regional specialties such as Imsil Hanwoo beef, Sangju dried persimmons, Yeosu Gat kimchi, as well as locally produced and processed agricultural products like cheese, cheonggukjang, and traditional Korean sweets at reasonable prices.
For the first time this year, a local food promotion booth will be operated to introduce Gyeongbokgung rice produced in Gangseo-gu and Makgeolli made from that rice, allowing visitors to experience specialties produced in their own hometown.
The district expects the direct market to help residents prepare economically for the holidays and to promote active exchanges with sister cities.

Mayor Jin said, "The direct market receives great love from residents every year for its excellent agricultural and specialty products, so we have prepared it to be even richer and more substantial this year." He added, "We ask visitors to use public transportation or nearby public parking lots when visiting the event site, and we hope many residents will show interest and participate in the direct market, which helps local farmers and allows for economical holiday preparations."
