Handonghun: "I Will Eradicate the Practice of Receiving Political Funds Through Book Launch Events"
"If the opposition agrees, legislation will proceed immediately; if they oppose, we will win the general election and pass it."
Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, promised on the 18th to push for a bill banning politicians from receiving political funds through book launch events. He stated that if the Democratic Party agrees, the bill will be legislated immediately, but if they do not agree, the People Power Party will pass the bill alone after winning the general election.
At the People Power Party Emergency Response Committee meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Chairman Han said, "The People Power Party will propose and pass a bill to eradicate the practice of receiving political funds under the guise of book launch events." Regarding the timing of the legislation, he said, "If the Democratic Party agrees, it will be legislated immediately, and if they oppose, we will win this general election and pass it."

He continued, "In the past, such discussions fizzled out, but now it is different because the People Power Party is truly going to do it."
This political reform pledge by Chairman Han is the fifth one. Previously, he promised to give up parliamentary immunity, return salaries if sentenced to imprisonment or higher, not to nominate candidates in by-elections caused by their own fault, and to reduce the number of lawmakers by 50.
