Samsung Heavy, First New Year Order for Two Ultra-Large Ammonia Carriers Worth 300 Billion Won
Samsung Heavy Industries has secured its first order of the new year with a contract to build ultra-large ammonia carriers.
On the 18th, Samsung Heavy Industries announced that it had received an order worth a total of 315 billion KRW for two ultra-large ammonia carriers (VLAC) from an Oceania-based shipowner.
These vessels are scheduled to be delivered sequentially to the shipowner by November 2027.
With this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries' order backlog for ammonia carriers has increased to six vessels, including ammonia-compatible liquefied petroleum gas carriers (VLGC).
A Samsung Heavy Industries official stated, "This year, we plan to continue selective orders focusing on eco-friendly, high value-added vessels such as LNG and ammonia carriers."
