Gochang-gun to Recruit 'Agricultural School Trainees' Until the 16th of Next Month

Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do is recruiting 45 students for the 2024 New Farmer School until the 16th of next month to support stable agricultural settlement.

According to the county on the 18th, the New Farmer School provides basic farming technology education for returnees and new residents, where they can learn how to make ridges and furrows, characteristics of various crops, pest and disease management, and operation of agricultural machinery.

In addition, education on return-to-farming and return-to-village policies and laws, as well as field trips to learn about Gochang, are conducted to help returnees and new residents settle stably in Gochang-gun.

In particular, by visiting existing settled farmers or leading farms, participants listen to cases, experience on-site activities, and discuss difficulties to prepare for easier settlement.

The education will be held once a week for nine months from March to November.

Eligibility for application includes returnees and new residents who have moved to Gochang-gun within the last five years, or prospective returnees and new residents living outside the area. Applications can be submitted at the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Centers (town offices), Agricultural Counseling Centers, and Residential Agricultural Startup Support Centers, and can also be sent by registered mail or email.

Hyun Haeng-yeol, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “We hope for much interest and support in recruiting students for the New Farmer School so that new returnees and new residents can adapt well to the region through education and settle stably in Gochang-gun.”
