Naju-si, 4.58% Tax Credit for Annual Car Tax Payment in January
Naju City in Jeollanam-do is operating the 2024 automobile tax annual prepayment reporting and payment period until the 31st of this month.
According to the city on the 16th, the automobile tax annual prepayment system allows taxpayers to pay the automobile tax, which is usually paid twice a year in June and December, in advance in January and receive a partial deduction on the annual tax amount.
If paid in January, taxpayers can receive a 4.58% tax credit on the annual amount. Although prepayment applications can also be made in March, June, and September, the tax credit benefits gradually decrease to 3.8% in March, 2.5% in June, and 1.3% in September.
Automobile tax annual prepayment is optional for taxpayers, and even if payment is not made by the deadline, no additional tax penalty will be imposed. The tax will be charged as usual in two installments in June and December.
Payments can be made via virtual accounts, internet banking, bank CD/ATM machines, and the Wetax system (internet and smartphone app).
However, even if automatic transfer for automobile tax has been applied for, the annual prepayment amount is not automatically transferred and must be paid directly.
If the vehicle is transferred or scrapped after the automobile tax annual prepayment, the tax for the period after the date of transfer registration or cancellation will be refunded. Also, if the taxpayer moves to another city or province, the tax will not be charged again.
Applications for automobile tax annual prepayment can be made by phone or visit at the Tax Division of Naju City Hall, Eup/Myeon/Dong Administrative Welfare Centers, or through the Wetax website for application and payment.
Meanwhile, the city recently sent out tax bills with a 4.58% deduction on the annual amount to taxpayers who prepaid their automobile tax last year to enhance taxpayer convenience.
