Police: "Victim No Longer Wishes to Speak, Case Closed at Scene"
A video showing a teenage male student assaulting a security guard in his 70s has been circulated on social networking services (SNS), sparking public outrage. It is reported that the victim does not wish for the students to be punished.
According to the police on the 13th, around midnight on the 12th, a high school student, Mr. A, unilaterally assaulted Mr. B, a security guard in his 70s, at a commercial building in Dasan-dong, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi Province.
At the time, Mr. A’s friends recorded the assault and uploaded the video on Instagram.
The video shows Mr. A, who has a strong build, attempting a waist tackle on Mr. B, whose hair is graying white, knocking him down, then kicking him like a soccer ball and throwing punches.
Mr. B tried to resist but was helplessly beaten; after being kicked by Mr. A, he lost consciousness and collapsed to the floor.
The police, who were alerted by a citizen who saw the video, arrived at the scene, but it is reported that the victim, Mr. B, received an apology from Mr. A and did not file an assault report.
Mr. B stated during the investigation, "(Mr. A) apologized to me and plans to apologize again," and "I do not want the student to be punished at all."

A police official said, "Mr. B did not want to talk any further about the assault incident," and "After providing guidance on filing a report, the case was closed at the scene."
