"See You Soon, Seoul!"... Dodgers Introduce Gocheok Dome for MLB Opening Game
Gocheok Dome Undergoing Interior Renovations for MLB Opening Game Preparation
San Diego vs Dodgers Face Off at Gocheok Dome
The LA Dodgers, a Major League Baseball (MLB) team, introduced the under-construction Seoul Gocheok Sky Dome through the team's social media on the 12th.
On the same day, the LA Dodgers posted on their official Instagram with the phrase "See you soon, Seoul" along with photos of the exterior of Gocheok Sky Dome, the interior construction scenes, the stadium's electronic scoreboard promoting the opening game, and pictures of Korean baseball fans.
Gocheok Sky Dome, the home stadium of the professional baseball team Kiwoom Heroes, is currently undergoing interior renovations. Not only has all the artificial turf in the infield and outfield been removed, but the mound, fences, and clubhouse facilities are also being refurbished.
This is due to the requirements of the MLB office. After deciding in July last year that the official opening game of the 2024 season would be held in Seoul, the MLB office dispatched an inspection team in August to check the facilities of Gocheok Sky Dome. The office requested Seoul Facilities Corporation, which manages Gocheok Sky Dome, to provide a stadium environment suitable for MLB games, and Seoul Facilities Corporation accepted this and launched a major interior renovation this winter.
Meanwhile, the 2024 MLB regular season opening series between the LA Dodgers and the San Diego Padres at Gocheok Sky Dome will be held on March 20 and 21 at 7:05 PM. The games will be broadcast nationwide in the United States on ESPN.
