The Ministry of Economy and Finance's 2023 Policy MVP is 'Expansion of Parental Leave'
Exemption from Gift Tax on Marriage and Childbirth Funds and Other Awards Ceremony
The policy selected as the best by the Ministry of Economy and Finance this year is the "Significant Expansion of Parental Leave for Balancing Work and Childcare." Other major policies include exemption from gift tax on marriage and childbirth funds up to 300 million KRW given by parents, and the establishment of an institutional foundation for supply chain stabilization.
On the 12th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced the results of the 2023 Policy MVP selection. The Policy MVP is a system where the public directly votes to select outstanding policies among the key policies promoted by the Ministry. Voting took place over seven days from the 19th to the 25th of last month, targeting a total of 19 candidate policies. The voting participants included the general public, policy experts, and the press corps.
As a result of the vote, the policy "Significant Expansion of Parental Leave Period and Pay for Balancing Parents' Work and Childcare" was selected as the grand prize winner. Following this, the policies "Exemption from Gift Tax on Marriage and Childbirth Funds up to 300 Million KRW Given by Parents" and "Establishment of a Basic Framework for Stable Management of Macroeconomic and Financial Issues" received the top excellence awards. The policies "Establishment of an Institutional Foundation for Supply Chain Stabilization: Support for Enactment of the Basic Supply Chain Act" and "Advancement Plan for the National Contract System" received excellence awards, while the policies "Newborn Housing Support Triple Package" and "Tax Support for Strategic Fields such as Semiconductors and Video Content to Leap Forward as a Technology and Culture Powerhouse" were each awarded special prizes.
An award ceremony was also held for the newly established Civil Complaints MVP this year. The Civil Complaints MVP system was introduced to improve the level of civil complaint services and enhance civil satisfaction. Departments that handled the most civil complaints over the past year and outstanding employees who actively reflected civil complaint issues in legislative amendments were selected and awarded.
