Gwangyang-si Supports Paternity Leave Incentives for Fathers
Support of up to 300,000 KRW per month for up to 3 months for workers residing in Gwangyang-si
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that as a new policy project this year, it will provide a monthly "Dad's Parental Leave Incentive" of 300,000 KRW for up to 3 months to male workers on parental leave under the Employment Insurance Act who have an address in Gwangyang City.
According to the city on the 12th, to encourage male workers to take parental leave and alleviate the financial burden associated with childcare, the city will fully fund the incentive (total project budget of 50 million KRW) starting this year.
The incentive applies to parental leave days taken after January 1 of this year.
Eligible applicants are male workers receiving parental leave pay under the Employment Labor Act who have had an address in Gwangyang City for at least one year as of the leave application date, and the eligible child must also have an address in Gwangyang City as of the application date.
The application deadline is within 3 months from the end date of the parental leave. Applications can be made monthly or as a lump sum for 3 months, but since the project may end once the budget is exhausted, monthly applications are recommended.
Applicants must visit their local eup/myeon/dong office with the application form (available at the eup/myeon/dong office), ID, a copy of the bankbook for incentive payment, and the parental leave pay decision notice to apply.
The incentive will be paid into the account within 10 days of the month following the application month.
The "Parental Leave Pay Decision Notice" can be issued by visiting the employment center or online via the employment center’s website.
Choi Suk-jwa, head of the Women and Family Division, said, "We hope that the 'Dad's Parental Leave Incentive,' which is being supported for the first time this year, will expand fathers' participation in childcare and create a family-friendly environment," and added, "We look forward to your interest and applications."
