The Busan Skills Competition Committee (Chairman Park Hyung-jun) is recruiting skilled workers to participate in the "2024 Busan Skills Competition."
The Busan Skills Competition will be held from April 1 to 5 at Busan Mechanical Technical High School and other venues. It is hosted by the Busan Metropolitan City and organized by the Busan Skills Competition Committee.
The competition consists of 50 skill categories across the fields of machinery, metal & transportation, electrical & electronics, architecture & woodworking, information & communication technology (IT) & design, crafts & clothing, and beauty.
Eligibility requires applicants to have resided in Busan for more than six months as of the application deadline or to have been affiliated with an organization (school or company) located in Busan for more than three months. However, some participants, such as international competition winners and those qualified for national team selection, are restricted from participating.
Applications will be accepted exclusively through the official website MeisterNet from January 15 to 26, for a period of 12 days.
Medals and prize money (1st place: 800,000 KRW; 2nd place: 600,000 KRW; 3rd place: 300,000 KRW) will be awarded to winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) in each category. Winners will also qualify to represent Busan at the 59th National Skills Competition to be held in Gyeongbuk Province starting August 24.
Additionally, according to the National Technical Qualifications Act, the qualification exam for the relevant skilled worker category will be exempted.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, "We ask for your interest and participation so that the prospective skilled technicians who will lead Busan's future can fully demonstrate the skills they have honed in this competition. We will also spare no effort to provide various supports to nurture outstanding technicians."
Furthermore, Shin Seung-sik, the Operations Committee Chairman (Head of the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea), said, "We hope this competition, which selects representatives of our region, will become a festival to discover excellent skilled technicians."
