Creation of the 'Forest of Hope' in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu
Korea Eximbank & Life Forest Association Sign Business Agreement for Urban Environment Improvement
Collaborative Project Implementation through Site Provision, Design, Construction, and Financial Support Roles
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it has signed a public-private business agreement with the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the Life and Forest Association to improve urban environmental conditions.
The district plans to create urban forests on idle lands such as parks, green spaces, and riversides, and will promote the "Forest of Hope" project for three years from this year until 2026 to provide residents with a pleasant living environment.
First, the district plans to establish an urban forest in the green area around Yeouido-dong 81 this year, with construction starting in April.
The district intends to plant trees and herbaceous plants that consider both air quality and urban landscape to provide a comfortable urban forest in the project area.
The "Forest of Hope" project will be carried out organically with roles divided among the institutions. ▲The district will provide the project site, participate in the design process, and support overall administrative tasks including post-management ▲The Life and Forest Association will be responsible for design and construction ▲The Export-Import Bank of Korea will provide financial support.
The district has been continuously engaging in social contribution activities in partnership with private companies to provide residents with a healthy urban environment in response to climate and air quality changes.
Notably, the district has created urban forests such as ▲Sum;Pyeonhan Forest (Dangsan Park) and ▲Beautiful Sharing Forest (Singil-dong, Tteulak Village Yard), and has actively participated in various social contribution activities related to urban greening in cooperation with companies such as ▲Samsung Life Insurance, ▲The Witch Factory, and ▲Green Trust.

A district official stated, "We hope that the 'Forest of Hope' will become a healthy living foundation for our residents," and added, "We will continue active promotion to encourage more companies and organizations to participate in environmental protection and climate change response."
