Seong-Jin Cho was ranked as the third busiest pianist in the world last year.
The online classical site Bachtrack announced the results of the 'Classical Music Statistics,' which compiled 31,309 concerts, operas, and dance performances held last year, on the 11th. According to this, Seong-Jin Cho was the third busiest concert performer after Russia's Kirill Gerstein and Daniil Trifonov. He had busier days than China's Yuja Wang and Iceland's V?kingur ?lafsson.
Seong-Jin Cho is a world-renowned pianist who became the first Korean to win the Chopin International Piano Competition in 2015. He has been invited to perform with top orchestras worldwide, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic. Starting this year, he will also serve as a resident musician with the Berlin Philharmonic.
The busiest violinists were Augustin Hadelich, Renaud Capu?on, and Joshua Bell, in that order. Among cellists, S?ku Kan? Mason, Gautier Capu?on, and Nicolas Altstaedt ranked high.
Among conductors, Andris Nelsons was the busiest, followed by Klaus M?kel? and Paavo J?rvi. All of them visited Korea last year. Nelsons led the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, M?kel? conducted the Oslo Philharmonic, and J?rvi led the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra.

Bachtrack analyzed that the proportion of contemporary music performances increased from 6% in 2013 to 14% last year, and the activities of female composers were remarkable. Among the top 200 composers with many achievements, twenty-two were women, including Sofia Gubaidulina, Unsuk Chin, Caroline Shaw, and Anna Clyne. Unsuk Chin is a leading contemporary music composer representing Korea. Last November, she attracted much attention by releasing the album 'Berlin Philharmonic Unsuk Chin Edition,' which recorded major works with the Berlin Philharmonic.
