Songpa-gu Core Projects, 9 Out of 10 Residents Satisfied
2023 Resident Opinion Survey Shows Overwhelming Positive Ratings... Highest Satisfaction in Culture & Arts, Followed by Lifestyle & Sports
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) reported that in the 2023 resident opinion survey conducted in the second year of the 8th term of the elected administration, 90.5% of residents expressed satisfaction with the core projects of Songpa-gu.
This survey was commissioned to the professional research firm The Research Group Co., Ltd. and conducted through one-on-one face-to-face interviews with 1,000 residents from November 17 to 27 of last year. The sampling error margin is ±3.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
First, in response to the question about living conditions in Songpa-gu, 92.3% of all respondents answered that it is "a good place to live." The factors contributing to satisfaction included a safe environment (41.4%) and leisure activities supported by abundant cultural and artistic infrastructure (38.1%).
In particular, the overall satisfaction rate for the eight core projects being promoted under the vision of the 8th term, "Songpa, a premium city serving residents as owners," was 90.5%, indicating that the majority of residents actively support the district administration.
By sector, the highest resident satisfaction was found in the ‘Culture, Arts, and Tourism Projects (97.5%)’ and ‘Expansion of Living Sports Infrastructure (94.9%)’. This is interpreted as a result of actively reflecting and implementing residents’ opinions who selected the ‘Culture and Sports’ sector as a priority project in the 2022 opinion survey.
Following these were ‘Operation of Native English Classes in Daycare Centers and Kindergartens (94.2%)’, ‘One-stop Permit Civil Service and Separate Operation of Passport Office (92.2%)’, ‘Opening and Route Extension of Songpa-gu’s First Village Bus (91%)’, ‘Guarantee of Property Rights and Improvement of Residential Environment in Pungnap-dong (87.4%)’, ‘Expansion of Support for Socially Vulnerable Groups (86.3%)’, and ‘Prompt Promotion of Redevelopment and Reconstruction (80.2%)’ in that order.
Additionally, regarding Songpa-gu’s representative pledge project, ‘Creation of a Premium Street on Songpa-daero’, over 70% of respondents identified ‘Creation of Media Forest on the Seokchon Lake Shore (72.5%)’ and ‘Creation of a Walkable Street through Sidewalk Expansion (72.2%)’ as the most anticipated projects, expressing residents’ hopes for Songpa-daero to develop into a representative street of Seoul.
Furthermore, the policies such as ‘Ordinance Enactment and Resident Evaluation Group Activities to Eradicate Hate and Defamatory Political Party Banners (92.3%)’ and ‘Improvement of Resident Convenience through Village Bus Route Extension (90.3%)’, which were first established and implemented by Songpa-gu as a basic local government, were evaluated positively, showing high empathy for proactive administrative efforts.
