Prosecutors Conduct Search and Seizure at Democratic Party Lawmaker Im Jong-seong's Office... Bribery Allegations
The prosecution has launched a forced investigation into Democratic Party lawmaker Lim Jong-seong on charges of receiving bribes worth about 10 million won from an executive of a local construction company.
On the 10th, the Criminal Division 6 of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Soon-ho) is conducting a search and seizure procedure at Lim's National Assembly office on charges of bribery and violation of the Anti-Graft Act. However, it was reported that a full-scale search and seizure was not carried out as Lim was summoned for questioning as a suspect regarding the Democratic Party's money envelope allegations at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office earlier that morning. It is known that on the 8th, the prosecution conducted a search and seizure at Lim's local office in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, on charges of bribery and violation of the Anti-Graft Act.
Earlier, the Serious Crime Investigation Division of the National Police Agency had transferred Lim to the prosecution without detention in August last year on suspicion of receiving money and goods, including using a corporate card, from Mr. A, an executive of a construction company in Lim's constituency in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, since November 2020. Mr. A, who provided corporate cards and other valuables to Lim, was handed over to the prosecution on charges of bribery and violation of the Anti-Graft Act.
