Gyeongbuk Province Hosts First 'International AI & Metaverse Film Festival'... 35 Million KRW Prize Competition
Gyeongbuk Province is holding the ‘AI·Metaverse Film and Video Contest’ from the 10th to April 18th to revitalize the digital media industry using AI and metaverse technologies.
This contest was organized to discover innovative media content utilizing AI and metaverse technologies and to use the submissions for the upcoming ‘Gyeongbuk International AI·Metaverse Film Festival,’ which will be held for the first time in June.
The Gyeongbuk International AI·Metaverse Film Festival is a new-concept film festival utilizing AI and metaverse technologies. It will open screening rooms for domestic and international film festivals on the metaverse platform, a next-generation media platform, providing entries from various film festivals, and offline, it will screen outstanding works submitted to this contest.
The contest theme is open, and applications are accepted in two categories: film and video. Submissions can be any film or video content that uses AI or metaverse technology or is produced with AI or metaverse as the theme or subject.
Anyone, domestic or international, individuals or groups, can participate. In particular, multiple submissions per individual (team) are allowed, and there is no time limit on the entries.
Gyeongbuk Province will comprehensively evaluate the artistic quality, popularity, technological utilization, and originality of the submitted works and select 21 award-winning pieces (11 films and 10 videos) in May. The final rankings will be announced at the opening ceremony of the film festival in June.
Winners will receive a total prize money of 35 million KRW (10 million KRW for the grand prize in film, 3 million KRW for the grand prize in video), and the winning works will be screened at the 1st Gyeongbuk AI·Metaverse Film Festival as well as at various cooperating film festivals domestically and internationally.

Lee Jung-woo, Director of the Metaverse Science Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “AI and metaverse technologies are core technologies leading the digital transformation of our daily lives,” and added, “We ask for the public’s great interest and participation so that many innovative contents can be submitted through this contest.”
