The ‘Large and Small-Medium Enterprise Safety and Health Win-Win Cooperation Project,’ organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, is a project aimed at eliminating the safety and health level gap between primary contractors and partner companies through voluntary win-win cooperation and preventing industrial accidents.

As the primary contractor, BPA supports the costs required for customized consulting and other activities to improve the safety and health levels of partner companies and establish prevention systems in cooperation with the government.

Through this project in 2023, BPA supported the strengthening of safety and health capabilities of major partner companies, including Busan Port Facility Management Center, Busan New Port Facility Management Center, and Busan Port Security Corporation.

For support activities, safety and health consulting and awareness improvement education were conducted for each partner company over eight days on topics such as risk assessment techniques, classification of explosion hazard areas in workplaces, and improvement measures, through safety management specialized institutions designated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

Additionally, a safety and health management campaign for outdoor workers during the heatwave season was carried out, and support was provided for confined space oxygen and gas measurement systems and the Korean-style safety ladder (K-ladder), among others.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency recognized BPA’s substantial safety and health activities and advanced consulting support, selecting it as an excellent company. The excellent company status will be maintained for two years from 2024 to the end of 2025, and BPA’s safety and health best practices will be promoted externally through the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.

BPA is not satisfied with the excellent company selection and plans to expand the scope of the project in 2024 to include stevedores at Gamcheon Port and carry out the ‘Large and Small-Medium Enterprise Safety and Health Win-Win Cooperation Project.’

Among the stevedores at Gamcheon Port, Korea Port Logistics and Jeongil Global have decided to participate in this year’s project.

BPA plans to collaborate with these stevedores to enhance safety and health management capabilities and carry out various support activities to create a safe stevedoring site.

BPA President Kang Jun-seok said, “Through this project, the safety awareness and management capabilities of partner companies have improved overall,” and added, “We will gradually expand the project scope and strive to realize a safe Busan Port.”
