Started with 4 Schools in 2021... Increasing Each Session
Improving Learning Environment Including Installation of Air Purification Devices

Hanwha Group announced on the 10th that it has selected six schools nationwide to support the ‘Making Clear Schools’ project. Making Clear Schools is a social contribution activity by Hanwha that manages indoor air quality to improve students’ learning environments.

The schools selected this time are ▲Yongin Nagok Elementary School Bucheon Ilsin Elementary School Jeongeup Jeongeupnam Elementary School Geoje Sangdong Elementary School Boeun Donggwang Elementary School Changwon Bansong Elementary School, totaling six schools. As interest from teachers and parents has increased every year, the number of supported schools has grown from 4 in the first year, 5 in the second year, to 6 in the third year.

Hanwha, together with the Environmental Foundation and the Community Chest of Korea, accepted applications through the Clear School website for about a month starting October 16 last year. The final selection was made through evaluation by a professional advisory group including environmental engineering professors and scholarship officers, on-site visits, and interviews with school staff.

Each school receives various facilities worth about 100 million KRW to improve the learning environment, such as solar power generation equipment, window-type ventilation systems, air shower air purifiers, air clean mats, and wall greening, tailored freely according to each school’s situation.

Unlike previous years when all equipment had to be installed mandatorily, this year the support was customized reflecting each school’s autonomy. Eco-friendly education is also additionally provided to students.

Since 2021, Hanwha has supported facilities that can improve learning environments in an eco-friendly way through the ‘Making Clear Schools’ project at elementary schools nationwide. At Cheongju Suseong Elementary School, selected last year, the air shower air purifier reduced fine dust by 23% and ultrafine dust by 22% within 10 minutes of operation, demonstrating an improvement in air quality.

Teacher Heo Eun-young of Yongin Nagok Elementary School, selected in this third year project, said, “These days, parents’ biggest concern is fine dust and indoor air quality management,” adding, “We are happy to receive Clear School at the most important and necessary time, and hope it becomes an opportunity for our students to take more interest in environmental issues.”

A Hanwha official stated, “We will strive to create a healthy educational environment where more children can live safely by improving the learning environment through indoor air quality management, and contribute to the growth and development of future generations.”
