Yeosu City Expands Support for Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination
Support of 100,000 KRW per Vaccination for Women Aged 18-26
Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that this year it will support the cost of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for women aged 18 to 26 (born between 1997 and 2005) who have lived in the area with a registered address for more than one year.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is known as a major cause of cervical cancer, and cervical cancer in South Korea ranks third among cancers occurring in women aged 15 to 34, making infection prevention and vaccination very important.
Accordingly, the city has expanded the target group from the existing national vaccination program to all women aged 18 to 26, providing 100,000 KRW per vaccination session.
A total of three doses are required, and support is available within one year from the first vaccination date, with a maximum support amount of 300,000 KRW per person.
Those wishing to receive the vaccination should bring their ID and resident registration certificate or transcript and visit participating medical institutions in the area.
A city official stated, “HPV vaccination is an effective way to prevent diseases such as cervical cancer, so we hope eligible citizens take advantage of this support benefit to protect their health.”
