Daejeon City Transfers Operation and Management of Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center from Private Sector to Facilities Management Corporation
Management by Operations Committee until July 5
Initiation of Handover Preparation Procedures
The operation and management authority of Daejeon Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center will be transferred from the private sector to the Facilities Management Corporation.
Daejeon City announced on the 9th that it will begin preliminary preparations for the handover of the Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center facilities in the second half of this year.
The Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center has been managed and operated by the Jungang-ro 1beonga Operating Committee (private) for over 30 years since 1994. The committee's usage agreement period is until July 5 of this year.
Daejeon City plans to transfer the management and operation authority to the Facilities Management Corporation in line with the expiration of the agreement period. To this end, the Facilities Management Corporation has established a task force for revitalizing the Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center and completed preparations for the handover-related tasks.
Additionally, starting this month, a regular meeting composed of representatives from related organizations of the Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center (Daejeon City, Facilities Management Corporation, Operating Committee) will be held to communicate and share future schedules and plans.
Earlier, in December last year, Daejeon City notified the existing store permit holders and the Jungang-ro 1beonga Operating Committee that the Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center would be converted to a general competitive bidding system, and announced plans to begin an appraisal of store usage fees to promote public competitive bidding for selecting store permit holders starting July 6.

A Daejeon City official stated, “This year, through public competitive bidding for the Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center and transferring the management and operation authority to the Facilities Management Corporation, we will ensure that the stores within the city-owned Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center are operated through transparent procedures.”
