Jangseong-gun 추진 'Youth Center' Construction... 2.5 Billion KRW Secured

Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do will actively promote the construction of the ‘Youth Center,’ a hub facility for youth activities, starting from the new year.

According to the county on the 8th, the ‘Youth Center’ is a space where young people gather to communicate, share information, and engage in various activities such as self-development and leisure.

Among the 22 cities and counties in the Jeonnam region, Jangseong was the only one without a Youth Center, and the need for its construction has been continuously raised.

Since the launch of the 8th term of the local government in 2022, the county has been exploring various plans to promote the construction of the Youth Center. As a result, it was finally selected in last year’s Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘Community Revitalization Infrastructure Project’ competition, securing a total project cost of 2.5 billion KRW.

The top priority in constructing the Youth Center was its ‘location.’ The county secured a site near the Gunmin Hall in Jangseong-eup (1486-4, 787-9, Yeongcheon-ri, Jangseong-eup) with good accessibility so that young people can use it comfortably at any time.

The site area is 1,690㎡, with a building area of 600㎡, planned as a two-story building equipped with a youth communication space, a preliminary startup space, a shared kitchen, a multipurpose hall, and a media studio.

The preparation for construction is progressing smoothly. After purchasing the site last year, preliminary procedures such as shared property review and local finance investment review were completed early. This year, after establishing the basic plan and detailed design, construction is scheduled to begin around October.

County Governor Kim Han-jong said, “The core of population policy and local government revitalization projects is to create a ‘city where people want to live.’ We will accelerate efforts to make Jangseong a ‘desirable place to live’ where people gather, starting with the construction of the Youth Center.”
