Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that a flock of Hooded Cranes, auspicious birds that bring longevity and good fortune, appeared in Uiryeong-gun on the 3rd.
Cranes, also known as Hak, Danjeonghak, and Seonhak, are internationally endangered birds with about 10,000 remaining worldwide.
A flock of about 50 Hooded Cranes was observed wintering in Wolhyeondul, Seonghwang-ri, Jeonggok-myeon.
Jeonggok-myeon, where the Hooded Cranes appeared, is the hometown of Lee Byung-chul, the founder of Samsung Group, and this area is known as Uiryeong Rich Village.
People who witnessed the Hooded Cranes said, "It seems many good things will happen in Uiryeong-gun this New Year," and "This year's Rich Festival will also be a great success."
