The 100th store opened in the Asia-Pacific region
Apple logo features 'Hongdae' in Hangul inside
The 7th Apple Store in South Korea is set to open near Hongdae Entrance Station in Mapo-gu, Seoul, a sacred place for street culture.
Apple announced on the 8th that it will open Apple Hongdae in the Yanghwa-ro area of Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 20th. This will be the 7th store in South Korea and the 100th store in the Asia-Pacific region overall.
To commemorate this, the barricades and logo unveiled that morning embody respect for Hongdae Street, the center of youth culture.
Drawing inspiration from the two Korean characters of the area name 'Hongdae,' which reflect the beauty of Hangul as a fundamental form of self-expression, the design conveys both weight and freedom simultaneously.
Encapsulating this within the Apple logo symbolically represents Apple's commitment to contributing to the growth of local culture.
Apple Hongdae is equipped with various tools to support creative self-expression, and staff will assist visitors in utilizing these tools as well as purchasing and experiencing products.
