‘Busan Munhwa Hoegwan Baeumteo’ Opens ... A Venue for Citizen Cultural Arts Education
Revitalization of Cultural Facilities Around UN Memorial Park, Complex Space for Citizens
Opening at 5:30 PM on the 10th, Attended by City Officials, Council Members, Art Institutions, and Citizens
Busan City has created a cultural complex space for the general public called the ‘Busan Culture Center Learning Space’ as a measure to revitalize the UN Memorial Park and surrounding cultural facilities.
At the 5th Future Innovation Committee meeting hosted by Busan City in November 2022, the need to establish a dedicated cultural complex space for the general public within the Busan Culture Center was raised as part of the plan to revitalize the UN Memorial Park and nearby cultural facilities.
Accordingly, through the active efforts of Busan City and the Busan Culture Center, the former Yeongbingwan was remodeled to create a cultural complex space that provides citizens with opportunities for cultural learning.
With a total project cost of 2.1 billion KRW, the ‘Busan Culture Center Learning Space,’ completed in January this year, is located on the basement level 1 of the Busan Culture Center Small Theater and consists of a total of 13 educational spaces including a large practice room, lesson rooms, and seminar rooms.
Citizens can participate in various programs such as experiential education, choir, and academy through one large practice room, seven learning rooms, three seminar rooms, and two meeting rooms.
The ‘Busan Culture Center Learning Space’ is expected to contribute to expanding the base of cultural arts by not only providing existing cultural arts education academy programs but also offering customized arts education tailored to different life stages for various age groups in the future.
Previously, cultural arts education academy programs were operated separately in the medium theater and chamber hall basements within the Busan Culture Center, but they will now be consolidated and operated in the basement level 1 learning space of the Small Theater.
This year, as a life-cycle tailored cultural arts program where various age groups can coexist and communicate, new groups such as the ▲‘Busan Wind Orchestra’ and ▲‘Busan Citizen Choir’ will be established, allowing any general citizen interested in wind instruments or choir to participate regardless of generation. Additionally, to contribute to Busan City’s key policy of nurturing children with diverse values, a ▲family unit seasonal cultural experience program will be introduced.
The opening ceremony will be held on the 10th at 5:30 PM in the basement level 1 of the Busan Culture Center Small Theater (former Yeongbingwan). Key figures from Busan City, members of the Busan City Council, heads of local cultural and arts institutions, and general citizens are expected to attend to celebrate the opening.
At the ceremony, with the attendance of key Busan City officials, city council members, representatives of local cultural and arts institutions and public organizations, and citizens, there will be ▲congratulatory performances by the Busan City Art Troupe Choir and Symphony Orchestra, ▲a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening, and ▲a tour of the entire learning space facilities.
Following the ceremony at 7:30 PM, as a subsequent event symbolizing a new beginning, the Busan Culture Center 2024 New Year Concert will be held, inviting a new guest conductor and soloists.
