"Try Quitting Smoking in the New Year?"... Seongdong-gu Expands Smoking Cessation Clinic Services
Additional Operation of Smoking Cessation Clinics on Saturdays and at Public Health Centers to Reduce Location and Time Constraints... Systematic Smoking Cessation Management with Professional Counseling and Step-by-Step Programs
Seongdong-gu (District Mayor Jung Won-oh) is expanding its smoking cessation clinics to help smokers strengthen their resolve to quit smoking in the new year.
To accommodate workers and residents who find it difficult to visit during weekdays, additional Saturday smoking cessation clinics will be held on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. For residents who have difficulty visiting the Seongdong-gu Public Health Center, smoking cessation clinics will also be operated at the Seongsu Health Branch and Songjeong Health Branch.
At the smoking cessation clinics, individuals can receive personalized counseling and education from professional smoking cessation counselors through nicotine dependence assessments and exhaled carbon monoxide (CO) measurements. Support is also provided for smoking cessation aids and behavioral reinforcement materials. Additionally, patients can receive prescriptions for smoking cessation medications through consultations with affiliated doctors.
In particular, for six months from the quit date, a program to manage smoking cravings and withdrawal symptoms is operated through visits and phone counseling. From six to twelve months after quitting, follow-up management programs are conducted via phone calls, text messages, and emails, providing a detailed, step-by-step program.
The Saturday smoking cessation clinics are available from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the first floor of the Seongdong-gu Public Health Center. The Seongsu Health Branch operates on the first and third Mondays, and the Songjeong Health Branch on the second and fourth Mondays, both from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Seongdong-gu also runs a 'Mobile Smoking Cessation Clinic' where smoking cessation counselors visit workplaces, schools, and organizations. For groups of 10 or more participants, inquiries can be made separately to the Seongdong-gu Public Health Center.
