Imsil-gun Wins 22 Awards in 17 Welfare Policy Areas... Record High

Customized welfare policies in Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, have received excellent evaluations both domestically and internationally, setting a record for winning the most awards in history.

The county announced on the 5th that it received a total of 22 awards in 17 different fields, including being selected as an excellent local government in the basic living sector by the Ministry of Health and Welfare last year and receiving an institutional commendation.

Recognized for the excellence of welfare project implementing agencies in 2023, Imsil Senior Club was selected as the best public-type senior job agency, followed by Imsil-gun Disabled Persons’ Association receiving the honor as the best agency for the disabled activity assistance project.

Additionally, Imsil Regional Self-Support Center received an institutional commendation as an excellent agency in the regional self-support center evaluation, and four agencies including Imsil-gun received incentives totaling 17 million won.

Moreover, the Ministry of Health and Welfare Minister’s Commendation was awarded to four individuals for contributions to protecting vulnerable seniors through visiting welfare services, and the Governor’s Commendation was given to nine individuals for contributions to self-support projects and the Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign, along with commendations for exemplary public officials (2 people) and contributions to county administration development (2 people).

Since Mayor Sim Min took office from the 6th to the 8th term of the civilian administration, he has set the realization of visiting customized welfare as a county policy, dedicating himself to unwavering warm welfare policies.

In particular, considering that the elderly population accounts for a large proportion of the total population, special administrative efforts were made for filial piety welfare for seniors.

To ensure a happy old age, customized welfare policies for seniors were actively promoted, including support for senior grooming fees, basic pension payments, provision of senior jobs, and support for senior centers’ operating expenses.

Efforts were also made to strengthen sharing welfare, such as measures to stabilize the lives of the disabled and support for disabled organizations, as well as realizing demand-centered welfare policies that visit and care for vulnerable groups.

This year, the county has set a budget of 98.068 billion won for the social welfare sector to further strengthen customized welfare.

This accounts for 20.35% of the total budget, and the county plans to actively promote distinctive welfare projects such as support for senior grooming fees and dispatching meal helpers to senior centers.

Mayor Sim Min said, “We have achieved results in creating a culture that values quality of life through strengthening various welfare policies and realizing living welfare in response to changes in a low birthrate and aging society. We will continue to keep our promise to the residents regarding customized welfare and work harder to make the county a better place to live.”
