Gwangju City Reduces City Bus Operations During Winter Vacation Period
53 Routes... From the 8th to February 25th
Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Ki-jung) announced on the 5th that city buses will operate on a reduced schedule from the 8th of this month until the 25th of next month.
This is to save energy and reduce operating costs due to a decrease in city bus passengers during the winter vacation period.
During this period, 53 routes with high student demand will operate 95 fewer buses compared to weekdays (9.5% of the total 999 buses).
As a result, the intervals for the main routes with a large number of buses will increase by about 10 minutes compared to usual, and the intervals for branch routes with fewer buses will increase by about 20 minutes.
However, Gwangju City plans to flexibly dispatch buses during peak commuting hours to minimize inconvenience to citizens.
