Two Large Buses Deployed... Operating 8 Times a Day
Starting from the 15th, the 'Metropolitan Call Bus (M-DRT)' operating between Yurim-dong, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, and Yangjae Station in Seoul will be launched. The Metropolitan Call Bus is a demand-responsive metropolitan public transportation service that allows passengers to reserve their desired stop, boarding time, and seat among the bus route stops through the KakaoT app before using the service.

Yongin City announced on the 5th that from the 15th, it will deploy two 44-seat buses on this route to operate a pilot service of the Metropolitan Call Bus, making eight round trips daily between the starting point, Gorim-dong Seoul Hospital stop, and Yangjae Station.
The city expects that since this bus has only six stops, fewer than a typical metropolitan bus, it will reduce commuting time compared to regular metropolitan buses.
The city plans to conduct the pilot operation until the end of next month before starting official service. During the pilot operation, the fare is free, and passengers can scan a QR code provided inside the vehicle with their phone camera instead of using a transportation card on the fare terminal. After the pilot ends, a fare of 2,800 KRW will be charged.
Earlier, after being selected in February last year as a demonstration site for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's metropolitan area demand-responsive mobility service practical technology development, the city has been preparing for the operation of the Metropolitan Call Bus through administrative procedures such as selecting transportation operators, issuing limited licenses, and signing a business agreement with the Korea Transport Institute.
