Lee Jun-seok's New Party "Surpasses 24,000 Members... Aiming to Establish Party 20 Days Earlier"
Meeting Central Party Founding Requirements
"Contacted More Than 10 Incumbent Lawmakers"
Former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok's Reform New Party (tentative name) announced that it has met the requirements for founding the party by surpassing 24,000 members just one day after starting member recruitment.
On the 4th, the Reform New Party stated in a press release, "As of 1 p.m., the number of new members participating in the Reform New Party has exceeded 24,000," adding, "Within 18 hours of launching the website, we have met the central party founding requirements and the establishment requirements for seven city and provincial parties."
Cheon Ha-ram, Heo Eun-ah, and Lee Gi-in, co-chairpersons of the Reform New Party's joint founding preparation committee, evaluated, "Above all, it is very meaningful that member recruitment proceeded naturally in proportion without being concentrated on specific individuals or regions."

He added, "This unprecedented attempt surpassed the central party founding criteria in just one day without receiving a single paper membership application," and said, "We will soon prepare paper membership forms to accommodate generations unfamiliar with IT and those who have not yet joined because our visually impaired-friendly page is not ready, and run both methods in parallel."
It is also known that some incumbent lawmakers are contacting the Reform New Party to join. Co-chairperson Cheon said on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' program, "There are some incumbent lawmakers who will join. All of them can join while maintaining their status as members of the National Assembly."
