Muan-gun Selected as the Nation's First Site for Successor Farm Establishment Project

Secured 11.3 Billion KRW for Hugyewon and Namaek Complex Water Play Facility Project

Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) has achieved the great success of securing 11.3 billion KRW in national and provincial funds for the Korean Important Forest Plant Resources Successor Forest Creation Project and the Namak Complex Water Playground Creation Project.

According to the county on the 4th, it was selected as the first nationwide site for the Korean Important Forest Plant Resources Successor Forest Creation Project, and from this year until 2026, over three years, a total project cost of 20 billion KRW (10 billion KRW national funds, 10 billion KRW county funds) will be invested to create a successor forest over an area of approximately 22 hectares at 821 Seongdong-ri, Muan-eup.

This project will establish a specialized forest to preserve Korean important forest plant resources in response to the decline of biological species due to climate change.

The Namak New Town Complex Water Playground Creation Project aims for completion this year, with a total project cost of 1.7 billion KRW (800 million KRW special local tax, 500 million KRW provincial funds, 400 million KRW county funds) to install a water playground facility in Namak Central Park that parents and children can use all year round.

The securing of national and provincial funds this time is a great achievement made through joint efforts during a difficult time of budget shortages, thanks to Governor Kim San’s continuous visits to related agencies and project reports, as well as Assembly Budget Committee Chair Seo Sam-seok’s interest and consideration for the development of Muan.

Governor Kim San said, “Securing national and provincial funds for this project is a joyous event for Muan-gun. The Successor Forest Creation Project holds great significance as it preserves Korea’s important forest resources in Muan-gun, and we expect regional economic revitalization through research institution agreements and attracting visitors. The Complex Water Playground Creation Project is distinguished from other water playgrounds by being a specialized play space that can be used not only in summer but throughout all four seasons. We will do our best to ensure the successful promotion of this project.”
