Renault Korea Car Sales Down 30% Year-on-Year... Both Domestic and Export Markets Sluggish
Domestic Sales Halved Compared to Last Year
Exports Also Down 19%

Renault Korea recorded poor sales performance in both domestic and export markets in December last year. Domestic sales sharply declined to about half compared to the same month of the previous year.
On the 3rd, Renault Korea announced that it sold a total of 6,807 units in December last year, a 29.7% decrease compared to the same month of the previous year. Both domestic and export sales were sluggish. Domestic sales were 1,594 units, down more than half (50.8%) compared to the same month of the previous year. Export sales also decreased by 19.0% during the same period.
Most vehicle sales were sluggish. Based on domestic sales, SM6 sold 132 units in December, showing the largest decline of 62.8% compared to the same month of the previous year. XM3 sold 706 units (-56.4%), QM6 756 units (-39.4%), all showing decreased sales. The 'Master,' which sold 21 units in December 2022, did not sell a single unit last December.
In exports, XM3 and Twizy sold 4,872 units and 80 units respectively, increasing by 23.6% and 2566.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. On the other hand, QM6, which was the best-selling model domestically with 10,866 units sold in the same month, exported only 261 units, showing the largest export sales decline of 89.5%.
Renault Korea's annual sales volume totaled 104,276 units, down 38.5% compared to the previous year. During the same period, both domestic and export sales decreased by 58.1% and 29.7%, respectively.
By detailed model sales performance, XM3 was the best-selling vehicle. A total of 77,979 units of XM3 and Arkana were sold in domestic and overseas markets. This was followed by QM6 with 23,614 units, SM6 with 2,211 units, Twizy with 404 units, and Master with 68 units.
Electrified vehicles such as hybrids (XM3, 40,568 units) and electric vehicles (Twizy, 404 units) accounted for about 40% of total sales.
Among domestic sales, the best-selling QM6 models were the LPG models LPe and Quest, which sold 6,046 units (56%) and 1,736 units (16%), respectively. The gasoline model GDe sold 3,080 units (28%), showing that LPG models remained strong last year as well.
During the same period, XM3 sold a total of 8,915 units, including 1.6 GTe with 6,326 units, E-TECH hybrid with 1,498 units, and 'TCe 260' with 1,091 units. SM6 recorded sales of 2,199 units, including 'TCe 260' with 1,095 units, LPe with 887 units, and 'TCe 300' with 217 units.

Renault Korea views this year as the year of hybrid popularization. They also introduced a new hybrid model, ‘XM3 E-TECH for all,’ available from 27.95 million KRW (price reflecting eco-friendly vehicle tax benefits). Along with the mid-size hybrid SUV new model scheduled for release in the second half of this year, they plan to further increase the sales proportion of electrified models this year.
