Domestic Sales Slowdown for KG Mobility, 6,608 Units Sold in December... 27% Decrease YoY
Domestic Sales Down 36.5% Despite Production Disruptions
Exports Perform Well... Up 59% YoY
Expanded Supply of Existing Vehicles and Torres EVX Success in Europe
KG Mobility sold a total of 6,608 vehicles in December last year, including domestic and export sales. Although exports grew, sluggish domestic sales caused the total sales volume to decrease by about 27% compared to the same month of the previous year.
On the 3rd, KG Mobility announced that it sold 3,507 units domestically and 3,101 units for export in December last year, totaling 6,608 units. This represents a 27.3% decrease compared to the same month of the previous year.
Exports performed well, but weak domestic sales held back overall performance. Domestic sales alone decreased by 36.5% compared to December last year. This is attributed to a contraction in consumer sentiment despite some resolution of production disruptions following the completion of the assembly line integration work at the Pyeongtaek plant.
The export volume increased by 59% compared to the previous month. This was due to an increase in supply of models such as the 'Rexton New Arena' and 'Rexton Sports & Khan,' which had experienced production disruptions due to the line integration work, as well as shipments of the new model 'Torres EVX' to countries including the United Kingdom and Belgium.
As a result, KG Mobility sold a total of 116,428 units last year (63,345 units domestically and 53,083 units for export), marking a 2.2% increase compared to the previous year.
This is explained by the aggressive launch of new models, including the improved product models and the new Torres EVX, as well as strengthened efforts to target export markets. In particular, starting from early in the year, KG Mobility focused on key markets such as Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region, achieving the highest export volume in nine years since 72,011 units in 2014.
