Gyeonggi-do Supports Student Loan Interest... Applications Accepted Until the 19th of Next Month
Gyeonggi Province will accept applications for college student loan interest support from the 3rd of this month until the 19th of next month.
The college student loan interest support program provides assistance for interest accrued over a half-year period on tuition and living expenses borrowed from the Korea Student Aid Foundation since the second semester of 2010. This time, interest accrued in the second half of last year (July to December) will be supported.
Eligible applicants include currently enrolled (or on leave) undergraduate and graduate students, as well as unemployed graduates. Either the applicant or one of their direct ascendants must have been registered residents of Gyeonggi Province for at least one year. Unemployed graduates can receive support within 10 years after graduating from college and within 4 years after graduating from graduate school.
College (or graduate) students can apply online by accessing Gyeonggi Minwon 24. Applications can also be conveniently submitted via mobile. With consent to share administrative information, the resident registration abstract and health insurance qualification certificate will be automatically linked, so only the enrollment (or graduation) certificate needs to be submitted.
The results of the first half of the year’s program and the interest payments will be made in July. The interest will be paid to the Korea Student Aid Foundation loan account and deducted from the outstanding principal and interest balance. Details of the interest support can be checked on the Korea Student Aid Foundation website.
Park Sang-eung, Director of the Education Cooperation Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "With the extended application period compared to last year, we hope that more residents will be able to reduce their financial burden and enjoy more equitable opportunities for higher education."
