A woman in her 20s accused of extorting tens of millions of won by threatening the late actor Lee Seon-gyun (48) is being reported for child abuse charges.
The Korea Child Abuse Prevention Association announced on the 2nd that it plans to file a complaint against the woman, identified as A, in her 20s for child abuse at the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul on the 3rd.
In the complaint, the association stated, "On the afternoon of December 28 last year, A appeared at the Incheon District Court for a pre-trial detention hearing (warrant review) accompanied by a one-year-old child who had no relation to the case," adding, "The child must have felt fear and terror due to the numerous cameras and crowds."
They continued, "According to the Child Welfare Act, this constitutes physical and mental violence that harms the health or welfare of the child or hinders normal development, as well as emotional abuse that damages the child's mental health development," urging an investigation into A.

Earlier, on December 28 last year, A appeared at the Incheon District Court's warrant review hearing in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, wrapped in a suit jacket holding the baby.
A is suspected of extorting 350 million won by threatening B, a female manager of a nightlife establishment, and Lee, who is accused of drug charges. A and B came under investigation after Lee filed a complaint. Lee revealed that he gave 50 million won to A and 300 million won to the female manager.

After the warrant review, the court issued an arrest warrant for A, citing "risk of flight and evidence tampering."
