On the 2nd, Go Hak-su, Chairman of the Personal Information Protection Commission, emphasized in his New Year's address the establishment of a trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) information protection system.
Chairman Go stated, "For AI technology to take root, it is a fundamental premise to build trust with users and society," adding, "We will actively communicate about the difficulties encountered by industries and citizens using AI and realize a principle-based AI privacy regulatory system by preparing six AI guidelines."
He also pledged to take the lead in establishing domestic data governance. Chairman Go said, "For the personal information transmission request right introduced in last year's amended Personal Information Protection Act to be implemented as planned in 2025, it is essential to establish a supporting foundation." The plan includes supporting startups and researchers in service development through the introduction of personal information safe zones and strengthening the pseudonymized information support system.
Furthermore, Chairman Go stated, "We will realize a society where citizens feel the safety of personal information," and added, "We will institutionalize the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) in companies handling personal information to encourage safe use of personal information in the private sector."

He also added, "We must intensively inspect the status of personal information protection in services closely related to citizens' daily lives to prevent public anxiety related to privacy from arising amid rapidly changing technological environments."
