Eunpyeong-gu Completes Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Work to Prepare for Flooding
Completed 'Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Work' in Flood-Prone Areas with Approximately 20.2 Billion KRW Support Over 5 Years
Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it has completed the 'sewer pipeline maintenance project' to prepare for flooding in concentrated flood-prone areas within the district over five years from 2019 to 2023.
Eunpyeong-gu carried out sewer pipeline maintenance over a total distance of 4.3 km, supported by approximately 20.2 billion KRW from the Seoul Metropolitan Government over five years. The district analyzed the causes of flooding in areas with a history of flood damage and established a five-year maintenance plan based on the results of improvement feasibility studies.
Subsequently, the project involved enlarging and installing new pipelines where flow capacity was insufficient and expanding drainage facilities. This was implemented to prevent disaster accidents such as flood damage caused by poor drainage during heavy rainfalls, aiming to protect the precious lives and property of residents.
Although the project spanned a long period of five years, the final construction was successfully completed in November last year thanks to the active cooperation of local residents.
The district expects this project to contribute to residents' safety and improvement of living conditions, and plans to continue protecting residents' lives and property through ongoing facility inspections and maintenance in the future.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, expressed gratitude, saying, “We thank the residents for their active cooperation despite the inconveniences caused by noise, vibration, dust, and traffic during the construction.”
