With the Introduction of Standard Sales Ratio... Consumer Burden Reduced for Domestic Alcohol and Domestic Cars
Domestic Distilled Liquors Including Soju, Factory Shipment Prices Reduced by 10.6%
54,000 KRW Price Cut for Grandeur Model
On the 1st, the National Tax Service announced that the introduction of the standard sales ratio for domestically produced alcoholic beverages and domestic passenger cars has not only resolved the tax discrimination against foreign products but also alleviated consumer burden through price reductions of domestic products.
Until now, domestic products were taxed based on the export price, which included 'sales costs and margins,' whereas imported products were taxed based on the import declaration price, which did not include these costs, resulting in a heavier tax burden on domestic products. To address this, the standard sales ratio was introduced to lower the tax base for domestic products. The standard sales ratios are 22% for soju, 23.9% for whiskey, and 18.0% for domestic passenger cars.
The factory shipment price of domestic distilled liquors such as soju will decrease by up to 10.6% starting January 1. The shipment price of Chamisul soju products will be reduced by 132 won, from 1,247 won to 1,115 won.
An official from the National Tax Service explained, "Originally, soju manufacturers planned to lower factory shipment prices starting January, but most manufacturers proactively reduced prices in December last year to actively participate in easing consumer burden and stabilizing prices. The National Tax Service is strengthening on-site communication to ensure that the manufacturers' price reductions are reflected in the prices at distributors and consumers."
For domestic passenger cars, since the implementation of the standard sales ratio on July 1 last year, the price of the Grandeur (based on a shipment price of 42 million won and a 5% individual consumption tax) has been reduced by 540,000 won.
