"Will blow up important facilities"... Police investigate after two consecutive days of 'threat warnings'
Report of the same content received on the 28th
"Investigation ongoing with possibility of the same perpetrator considered"
For two consecutive days, threatening faxes claiming to bomb important government facilities were received, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 29th that they are investigating the recent continuous threatening faxes and emails, considering the possibility that they were sent by accomplices.
According to the police, around 9 a.m. that day, a report was received at the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul from a foreigner support center stating that a threatening fax had been received with the message "We will bomb important government facilities such as the Police Agency and Prosecutor's Office." The document was written in Japanese, and the sender was listed as Japanese lawyer "Hasegawa Ryota."
However, police investigations revealed that the phone number and name written on the fax were all fake. On the previous day, the 28th, a similar fax with the message "We will bomb all your facilities" was also sent to the same foreigner support center, and a report was filed.

Meanwhile, in August, five similar terrorist threat emails originating from Japan were sent. The emails, impersonating Japanese names, contained threats to bomb various locations nationwide, including the Presidential Office, Seoul City Hall, and Namsan Tower. The emails were traced to an internet address (IP) within Japan. No actual explosives were found at the targeted locations.
